U13 Coach Bio

U13: Joe Dewan

Hockey Background

I am excited to have the opportunity to coach the U13 Castor River Canucks team for the upcoming  2021-2022 season. I’ve been involved with playing and coaching hockey my entire life and I’m looking forward to another fun and exciting season.

Growing up in South Gloucester I played minor hockey as a goalie at the highest level (AAA) and (AA) After my minor hockey I switched to play as a forward and still continue to play at a high level men’s recreational league. Sports is an important part of life as I still play on a softball team and golf when I can.

Coaching Experience

I’ve been involved with coaching minor hockey for six years and most recently coached the U12 RepB Metcalfe Jets through a very important development year. I have also been the head coach for the Greely Hawks Baseball team for five seasons.

Coaching Philosophy

I strongly believe that if our kids love hockey they will improve all on their own. Creating a fun, safe, positive environment full of respect and communication the sky will be the limit for these kids.  My plan for the year will be to develop a complete player who has all the skills and knows how to apply them.  I feel we are at the age where team tactic will play a large role and prepare kids for future teams. I expect full dedication and a strong work ethic, those things together set up for a successful season.

Tournaments

I plan on 5 tournaments this season. Two will be out of town and the rest local ones.
